“There’s lots of ways to be as a person, and some people express their deep appreciation in different ways, but one of the ways that I believe people express their appreciation to the rest of humanity is to make something wonderful and put it out there."

Make Something Wonderful Mug
Digitally Designed, 3D Printed, Handmade
The MSW Mug is a celebration of my year of working as a Steve Jobs Archive Fellow, and was a gift to the wonderful people at the Archive who made it possible. It is a direct result of my exploration and interest in using technology to create new ways to work in ceramics. My goal was to create something meaningful, innovative, beautiful, and functional. Something wonderful.
I built a clay 3D printer (see Engineering Portfolio) and spent months developing the process to create these mugs. The walls are designed digitally using CAD software, the foot is trimmed on a traditional pottery wheel, and the handle is pulled and attached completely by hand.
I also designed and built a bespoke packaging experience for the mugs, reflective of the care that had gone into each one.
In the 25,000+ years that people have been makin' pottery, there has never before existed anything quite like these.
